B-B Museum of Baseball Art Gallery: Bill Chapman

It doesn’t need to be Black History Month to appreciate the photography of Bill Chapman. He grew up a Boston Red Sox fan, in Brookline, MA, my current residence, but he brought his photographic skills to Birmingham, AL where he learned about the Negro Leagues and was introduced to not only the Memphis Red Sox and the Birmingham Black Barons but also to Rickwood Field.

His work gives us the opportunity to see that uniquely American experience of small town baseball, and as the name of his website suggests, it’s not about the color of person’s skin, it’s the color of baseball.

Here are some sample of his work.
