Jason Giambi hit a three-run pinch-hit 9th inning homer at Coors Field yesterday to give the Rockies and incredibly exciting 8-5 victory over the Dodgers. The Rockies led this one 2-1 heading into the 8th inning, but the Dodgers scored two in both the 8th and 9th innings and the Rockies scored three each in the 8th and 9th.

Giambi now has 429 career homers including eight walkoffs. He’s hit one for Oakland, three for the Yankees and now four for Colorado. It also was the eighth pinch-hit homer of Giambi’s career and fifth as a member of the Rockies.

Jones has reason to be Chipper

In the wild game in Atlanta, Chipper Jones hit a two-run 11th inning walkoff homer to give the Braves a 15-13 victory over the Phils. Jones now has 458 homers in his career including eight walkoffs and 10 from 10th inning on.

The Nationals snapped a five-game losing streak and ended the three-game winning streak of the Diamondbacks, when Ian Desmond hit a two-out two-run walkoff homer off J.J. Putz. It was the 25th homer of Desmond’s career and his first walkoff homer. he had previously had two walkoff singles and one walkoff sac fly in his career.
