A-Rod singing Shakira (again)

As a cautionary tale to those teams that want to give certain players long-term contracts, particularly those who have a history of PEDs, Alex Rodriguez is expected to miss most of the first half of the 2013 season because of a second hip surgery, this time to his left hip.

After pre-rehab, A-Rod will have the surgery in January and then it will take four to six months for the 38-year old third baseman to recover. In 2009, Rodriguez had his right hip repaired.

Rodriguez apparently suffered the injury before this year’s playoffs and he was on pain medication throughout the postseason. Reportedly, the pain in his hip was so severe after one Division Series game that he had to be taken to an emergency room overnight.

Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, who have had the best off-season af any team, report that the Yankees will consider Marco Scutaro, Stephen Drew and Jeff Keppinger.
