THE DOPPELSPIEL – RALLY KILLING DOUBLE PLAYS BY TEAM

Twin Peaks is back and according to Variety, “David Lynch returns to the small screen in Showtime’s reboot, which confounds and indulges but still communicates astonishing vision.” I couldn’t tell you, I haven’t watched it yet.

Here’s a little TP history: according to the TwinPeaks.org FAQ – creators David Lynch and Mark Frost assigned no episode titles, only episode numbers, but when broadcast in Germany and Europe, the episodes were titled. I couldn’t tell you, I haven’t watched the German version yet. But what I can tell you is that Twin Peaks, episode 21 is entitled, “THE DOPPELSPIEL” translated “the double play.”

Back to baseball – There is nothing more frustrating than when your team has runners in scoring position and a batter hits into an inning-ending or rally killing doppelspiel.

Here are the worst offenders.
