Congratulations to Jon Miller

Jon Miller today will receive the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcast excellence at the Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.

Miller has been the lead voice of the San Francisco Giants since 1997 and the play-by-play man for ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” for the last 20 years. Miller worked the NBC “Game of the Week” during 1986-89 with Frick Award winners Tony Kubek and Joe Garagiola.

While Miller also broadcast for the Boston Red Sox (1980-82) and the Baltimore Orioles (1983-96), I will always be appreciative to ACTA Sports for arranging for Miller to write the Foreword to my book, Walkoffs, Last Licks, and Final Outs – Baseball’s Grand (and not so grand) Finales.

It’s not a particularly nice looking book, but it is filled with great content and is fun, two characteristics enhanced by Miller.
