Granderson healthy enough to open for the Yanks

Curtis Granderson will be in the Opening Day lineup for the New York Yankees when the Yankees open tomorrow against the Detroit Tigers. There was concern that his sore oblique would force him to miss some action.

Mike Mussina will throw out the first pitch. There is no indication that Joe Girardi will consider that as an audition for a starter’s slot.

Here is the expected Yankees Opening Day lineup:

Brett Gardner LF

Derek Jeter SS

Mark Teixeira 1B

Alex Rodriguez 3B

Robinson Cano 2B

Nick Swisher RF

Jorge Posada DH

Curtis Granderson CF

Russell Martin C

CC Sabathia P

Note that Derek Jeter will be batting second and Brett Gardner will hit leadoff against righties such asĀ Justin Verlander, who will be starting tomorrow for Detroit.
