Coke has no fizz, Mariners have pop

Phil Coke went 3.2 innings giving up six runs, two earned, on six hits and four walks as the punchless Mariners gave the Tigers their worst beating of the season, 13-3. Ichiro Suzuki and Chone Figgins went a combined  7-for-9 with five RBI to lead a 15-hit Mariner attack. The M’s were helped by Tigers pitchers who walked 11.

Doug Fister was the beneficiary of the largesse which was due to him as Seattle had scored only three runs for him this season in his three starts, and only two while he was in the game. Fister enjoyed it and struck out a career-high seven in 6.1 innings.

Seattle went 7 for 22 with runners in scoring position.

Doug Fister and Phil Coke are now each 1-3.
