It’s even worse for the Rays

Yes, I know the Red Sox are 0-5, but how’d you like to be 0-5 at home? Welcome to Tampa where the Rays dropped their fifth straight game last night, this time to the Angels, 5-1.

There have been two constants for the Rays this season: losing and barely hitting. Last night was the fourth time they finished with exactly one run and four hits. They have scored all of seven runs this season.

How’d you like to be Jeremy Hellickson (0-1) who lost last night despite striking out 10 in 5.2 innings? He allowed three runs, but was a loser after he surrendered a run to the Angels in the 4th after permitting one in the 1st. Dan Haren earned the win by pitching 7.2 innings and allowing a run on four hits, striking out six and walking none.

Johnny Damon went 0-for-4 with a strikeout, and is 1-for-15 on the season.

Manny Ramirez flied out as a pinch-hitter and is now 1-for-17 on the season. He will miss today’s game because of a “personal matter.” We can only imagine what that means.
