What a comeback, what a walkoff!

In a battle for Washington bragging rights, the Mariners had this game in the bag leading 5-1 heading to the bottom of the 9th in our nation’s capital. But the National’s rookie catcher Wilson Ramos‘ three-run walkoff homer finished off a remarkable five-run 9th to give the Nats a 6-5 win.

The Nats were celebrating Ivan Rodriguez‘ 20th anniversary in baseball and the man, who is ostensibly his replacement behind the plate, made it memorable.

This was the first walkoff hit of Ramos’ career; I-Rod has had 10 walkoff hits including three homers.

In Rodriguez first major league game on June 20, 1991, as a member of the Rangers he went 1-for-4 against the White Sox. He flew out in his first time up against Black Jack McDowell but in his last at bat that day he singled home two for his first hit and first RBI.
