The only race that exists in the NL East is to determine who wins the NL Cy Young Award. The Phillies are a lock for first and the Braves are maintaining their lead for the Wild card slot.
Last night, the Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-8, finishing off a three-game series sweep. The Phillies won for the 12th time in 13 games and ended their most successful road trip in club history going 9-1. They are now 37 games over .500 for the first time since 1977.
The Braves’ Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 31 games as the Braves continued their winning ways defeating the Marlins 6-2 to finish off a three-game series sweep. The Fish have lost six straight. Uggla went 3 for 5. It was his ninth multi-hit game during the longest hitting streak in the majors this season. He is batting .224 overall this year.
