The RBI Game Report
There are many baseball observers who minimize the RBI statistic as an individual value because it is a team dependent stat, as in you need other runners to get on base in order to drive them home. RBI proponents counter that if you don’t have someone to drive guys home, you’re not going to win many games so an RBI force clearly has value.
Artfully avoiding the argument, in determining value, I like to look at consistent positive performance as a measure.
