Lasting Memories – The Last Time Each Team Finished Last
When my kids were little we used to sing to them a song called “Upsy Down Town,” where “the sky is in the sea and the fish are in the air where the birds should be.”
Today, it’s where the Blue Jays, Indians, Rangers, Cardinals, and Giants are in last place instead of on top where the pennants fly.
Fortunately for you (and not so much for me) this piqued my interest enough to find out when each team last finished the season in the basement.
- Only five teams have not finished last in the 2000s.
- Greater Los Angeles has not had a last place team this century.
- The Cardinals and the Yankees have gone the longest without finishing last.
